**Recipe: Cilantro-Brazil Nut Pesto: Get the Lead out!

Cilantro-Brazil Nut PestoA week ago I got a little booklet in the mail that flogged alternative cures. I googled the booklet's progenitor, Dr. David G. Williams and came across this delicious and nutritious pesto recipe that purports to 'get the heavy metals such as mercury, aluminum and lead out of our systems over a period of three weeks of using two teaspoons of this daily. Well, what is lost, even if it doesn't live up to this claim? The pesto is lovely-tasting and the ingredients are all very nutritious! Here is the recipe with my own instructions for making it using a Vita-Mix: Please use organic, raw ingredients, as fresh as you can find: Place in the following order in your Vita-Mix cannister: 2 C. packed, fresh Cilantro (Chinese Coriander) 2/3 C. cold-pressed Flaxseed Oil 4 cloves of Garlic, chopped 1/3 C. raw Brazil Nuts 1/3 C. raw Sunflower Seeds 1/3 C. raw Pumpkin Seeds 4 T. fresh-squeezed, organic Lemon Juice (alternatively, seed and peel 2-3 Lemons and put into the Vita-Mix without juicing) 2 tsp. of Dulse Powder Celtic Sea Salt to taste Place the lid securely on the cannister, leaving the top small lid off so that you can insert the plunger into the opening. Beginning on the lowest Variable setting, turn the dial gradually to the highest Variable setting. Tamp the ingredients as needed to keep them from splashing and to keep them feeding into the vortex. Flip briefly into the High setting and process until smooth. This delightful Pesto should be stored in glass jars in the freezer for use over time. I would keep the current ration in the fridge in a glass jar. My husband loves his daily beansprout salad (basically fresh beansprouts, 1/4 avocado, tomato) and this would make the perfect dressing. You can also use it on any number of other foods... be creative.... experience super health! As they said in the original article, this is worth trying daily for three weeks a year as a detox. A yummy detox. *I really don't think any other blender is up to the job of making a nice smooth pesto in such a short time as the VitaMix with its 240 mph engine!
