A Full Day in Victoria

Ed and I enjoyed such a beautiful day yesterday in one of my favorite cities on this planet: Victoria, B.C. As we made the morning drive from Royston to Victoria, we did a micro-scan of all the weather systems: clearing with possibilities for 'a nice day' as we set out, heavy Spring rains an hour later as we rolled through Nanaimo, and more and more lightening and clearing until we broke through into blue skies and sunshine as we came into Victoria.... the perfect coastal Spring day. Our Saskatoon friends, Elaine and Jim, were waiting to greet us outside their gorgeous vacation condo right on the Harbor. We had fun, chatting up a storm, eating a great vegetarian lunch at the lively Rebar cafe, and checking out the moving Titanic artifacts exhibition at the Royal Victoria Museum. We walked along the sea wall back to their digs, had tea and scones at the quaint little James Bay Tea Room. Just next to Jim and Elaine's condo complex was an interesting newish housing development called Westbay Marine Village....really, several rows of 'float houses'. My guess is that this accommodation-- alternative as it might be to the great mansions-- is likely still priced out of the market for people who can't afford to live in Victoria in today's housing market. Floathouses might be something YOU haven't thought about, though... I invite you to take a look at some of the possibilities.
